Calcutta Nov 15: Bihar swamped Tamil Nadu 84-52 to WIN THE MEN8217;S TITLE IN THE Inter-Zonal Basketball Championships with remarkable ease at the West Bengal Basketball Association courts here today. The thoroughly one-sided match found the National champions no match for their taller and faster opponents. Running away with an 18-10 lead, Bihar never really looked back and consolidated their position throughout the game. Tamil Nadu did manage to narrow the gap slightly early in the second half, but Bihar were soon on top again. As the final score would indicate, the runners up in the National Games hardly had a match at hand.Opening up a lead of 53-20 at half-time, Bihar used their height advantage well to create moves. Without their main player Shahid Qureshi, who had to leave the court with a pulled hamstring, Bihar found Cyril Miranda taking up the role of ball-handler without much difficulty. Miranda assisted point guard Jaldeep Dhaliwal and Narendra Rawat some very good balls, and both did not disappoint with their shooting.Dhaliwal contributed 33 points and helped in setting up of a few more. Rawat scored 15 points.
