
With reports of 43 deaths on Wednesday, the toll in Bihar mounted to 129 despite the overall situation showing signs of improvement in 18 districts. Of the 43 deaths, state Disaster Management Department sources said 25 were reported from Muzaffarpur and 18 from Sitamarhi. State Water Resources Department sources said Gandak was exerting pressure on its embankment at various places.
Meanwhile, students of Darbhanga Medical College have, in an sos to Chief Minister Rabri Devi, complained that around 500 medical students were trapped in their hostels in Darbhanga and sought immediate measures for their evacuation.
Howrah-Dibrugarh train services affected
KOLKATA: Floods in Assam and North Bengal have affected rail traffic between Howrah and Dibrugarh forcing cancellation of one long distance train and a short-period termination of another. The Howrah-bound Kamrup Express, which left Dibrugarh on July 19 was terminated at Dimapur, Eastern Railway sources said. Following this, the Dibrugarh-bound Kamrup Express was cancelled due to non-availability of the down link, the sources said. 8212; ENS 038; PTI
