VADODARA, Oct 5: Members of the Baroda Bar Association BBA blocked the road outside the Lal Court on Monday to press for their demand to remove taxi operators from the parking space outside the Nyay Mandir and the Lal Court and hand the place over to advocates.

As many as 14 advocates led by BBA president Narendra Tiwari were rounded up and taken to the Pratapnagar police headquarters, where they were kept till afternoon.

Talking to Express Newsline, Tiwari said that parking of commercial vehicle outside the court which had more than 10,000 litigants visiting it daily, besides more than one thousand advocates was completely unauthorised. 8220;We will continue our agitation till private taxi operators are removed,8221; he asserted.

Quoting a Gujarat High Court judgement, Tiwari said the police commissioner was authorised to remove them and mark the space for public parking without issuing a notification. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP A R Munshi said a meeting was held with the court authorities and a solution would be worked out soon.
