PITHAMPUR (MP), MARCH 11: Bajaj Tempo Ltd today formally launched its latest versions of utility vehicles `Judo’ and `Gama’. The launching ceremony is coincided with the inauguration of Bajaj’s new light commercial vehicle and utility vehicle plants here.

Chief Minister Digvijay Singh was present on the occasion. Speaking at the function, Abhay Firodia, Chairman and Managing Director of the company said Bajaj has 15 per cent share of the total tractor market in the country.

The company has also specially manufactured vehicle for export to Germany `Gurkha’, a four-wheeler costing Rs eight lakh, which is Euro-II compliant.

Priced at approximately Rs 3.80 lakh, the 10-seater Judo is the latest version of the company’s popular Trax series. Firodia said this year the company will produce 24,000 vehicles and will go on up to 48,000 vehicles annually.

He said Judo is targeted at the luxury market segment with features like four-cylinder diesel Euro-1 compliant engine. The Judo is also available in 4 X 4 cross country version. The main thrust of the Judo will be on corporate users, government and institutional clients, Firodia said.

The company has also introduced Trax-Gama for rural areas in its stable. He said Judo is named after the famous martial art judo, the main characteristic of which is that it fully understands the power of its opponent before taking on him.

He said Gama is named after the famous wrestler `Gama Pahelwan’. Firodia said their main contenders in these segments are Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata and Toyota.

He added that the design and manufacturing facilities at the new plant are totally indigenous.
