Dayanidhi Maran's exit from the Union Cabinet has brought a spring to the stride of Road & Transport Minister T R Baalu. He has been telling friends and officials the story of how DMK chief M Karunanidhi called him and draped a shawl around his “able shoulders” before handing over to him the charge of the party’s interests in Delhi. Now, many may take this with a pinch of salt, but the fact is that he has now been included in the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs.
