Fifteen students of a college were accommodated on the Lucknow University campus after they approached the authorities claiming that they were evicted by their landlords allegedly due to their Azamgarh roots, a top varsity official said on Wednesday.
8220;We have made arrangements for 15 students in academic staff college guest house. I don8217;t know whether these students belong to Azamgarh or not, but we have provided them accommodation on humanitarian grounds,8221; said Prof Nishi Pandey, Dean, Students Welfare, Lucknow University.
While the students allege they were being forced to leave their rented houses due to their Azamgarh background, their landlords say that they were asked to leave as they were not cooperating in police verification, which is mandatory.
