
IPOH MALAYSIA, March 6: Australia defeated South Korea 6-2 in the Azlan Shah Cup today to set up a final against Germany in the six-nation hockey tournament.
The Australians wore out the South Korean defence with lightning attacks. They opened the scoring after five minutes and kept up the heat to the end. Michael Brennan scored first for the Australians in the sixth minute. Paul Lewis followed up in the 18th and Matthew Smith in the 29th.
The South Koreans managed to reply just before half-time through Song Seong-Tae. After the break, South Korea surprised Australia with another goal from Shin Seok-Kyo in the 55th minute.
