Attacks by Pak troops, infiltrators condemned

Chandigarh, MAY 30: The local unit of Samajwadi Party today condemned the attacks by Pakistani troops and infiltrators on the domain of India in Kargil and extended full support to the Indian troops defending our motherland in the Kargil sector.

Expressing anguish over the statement of Union Defence Minister George Fernandes absolving the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the ISI of any responsibility for the operations at Kargil, party president Shivi Jaiswal urged the Centre to be careful while issuing such statements.

Environment week observed
As part of the Environment Week celebrations, Moti Ram Ayra Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh, observed the environment day today. S.K. Sharma, president of Environment Society of India, delivered a talk on native trees and birds on the occasion. Later, a havan was performed for the purification of the atmosphere.

It was also announced that the school would have a vericompost unit in which the students will be taught this technology.
