MUMBAI, Nov 19: The Air Traffic Controllers in Mumbai have suspended their work-to-rule agitation with effect from Wednesday evening. After a protracted meeting with his members, late tonight P N Bahuguna, regional secretary, Air Traffic Controllers Guild said the agitation has been suspended following an appeal by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayanti Natarajan. He however added that the stir may be resumed on Friday if their demands were not met.
Since Tuesday night confusion prevailed as to the fate of the agitation. A news agency item reported that the work-to-rule agitation has been called off following the intervention of Natarajan, but the ATC Guild quickly issued a rejoinder to the contrary stating that the agitation continues. Even today, the ATCs at Mumbai continued the agitation till late in the night while their counterparts in the capital returned to normal duties in the afternoon.
