
GOC-in-C, Northern Command, Lt Gen Hari Prasad today said the recent incidents of mortar shelling by militants in Poonch showed that they had the support of the Pakistani Army.

Further, the GOC-in-C said the Army had succeeded in eliminating nearly 50 per cent of the terrorists operating in the state. 8216;8216;Now, there are 1,700 to 2,100 terrorists operating in the state, but with the infiltration level falling and with the sustained efforts of security forces, we hope to eliminate the rest in the coming one to one-and-a-half years,8217;8217; he said.
