MUMBAI, JULY 11: Hot on the heels of the arrest of Additional Commissioner of Police A K Jain, another police officer was nabbed redhanded while accepting Rs 500 from a complainant at Nehru Nagar on Monday evening.

Police sub-inspector Manik Sathe was nabbed by Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths while accepting Rs 500 from Malappa Bandi, a helper with BSES. The accused has been remanded to police custody till July 13.

The case relates to Poshaamma, who was killed in an accident on April 24. Bandi, brother of the deceased, approached Sathe for some certificates like FIR copies for settling insurance claims.

Sathe demanded Rs 500 for expediting the matter, which was paid to the police officer. However, the insurance company demanded some more documents.

When Bandi approached Sathe for the other documents, the officer demanded another Rs 500 for showing favour. The ACB was tipped off and marked notes were recovered from the pocket of the policeman.
