
MUMBAI, AUG 25: Air-India has launched a customised inflight service which will now enable passengers to design their own flight menu beforehand. Passengers travelling on AI to London and New York from India will now be able to choose their menu through an interactive computer facility launched by the airline today. This interactive facility was formally inaugurated by the AI chairman and secretary of Civil Aviation, P V Jayakrishnan, at the airline8217;s Inflight Service Department auditorium in Mumbai.
Elaborating the salient features of this facility, the director of inflight service, Jitendra Bhargava, said that by knowing customer8217;s preference in advance, the food items can be stored in advance on board.
The hi-tech menu card is now available on Air-India8217;s website airindia.com. Though right now the service is restricted to the India-UK-USA sector, for the first-class and executive class passengers, the service will soon be available on all sectors and to passengers travelling in all classes.
At another AI function held today, the Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards, P S Das presented the advanced International Organisation of Standardisation ISO 9002 certification to AI8217;s Engine Overhaul Department.
With the acquisition of this certification, a citation of excellence, AI can offer its Engine Overall services to other airlines.
