CHANDIGARH, July 28: Apparently fed up with a deluge of requests from the City8217;s VIPs to allow the facility of red-lights atop cars, Adviser to UT Administrator Jagdish Sagar today ordered the removal of the light from his own official car.

Sources reveal that while a red-light atop the Adviser8217;s car is authorised, Sagar had it removed it as a symbolic gesture for those sending repeated requests for the facility.

In its recent judgment on traffic regulation, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed that red/blue lights atop vehicles would not be allowed without the permission of the competent authority.

The HC had ordered that only such vehicles should have red/blue lights which have been notified by the respective state government. Any unauthorised use would amount to contempt of court.
