
In the third such incident within a month, a newborn child was found abandoned in an Aji river stream near Bhagvatipara in Rajkot on Wednesday.
Unlike the two previous incidents where the infants were girls, this time it was a boy. Unfortunately, the child did not survive.
According to the B-Division police, locals spotted the body floating in the stream in the morning.
They informed the police, who rushed to the spot and fished out the body. A case against unidentified person s was registered.
8220;It seems the baby was abandoned the previous night,8221; said an officer of the B-Division police station, which had registered a similar case on December 9.
In that incident, a baby girl was found from a sewer near the Rajkot Marketing Yard.
The baby had bruises and some other wounds on her body. After treatment for five days at the K T Children Hospital, she was sent to Kathiyawad Balashram orphanage on the Gondal Road in the city.
This orphanage is also home to another baby girl found abandoned in a sewer under Kesari Hind Bridge on November 26.
In both the cases, complaints against unidentified person s were lodged, but the police are yet to make headway in both the cases.
