She is television8217;s newest chirpy young thing8230; even though she isn8217;t exactly new. But Delnaaz Paul nee Irani is suddenly hot property after she8217;s started playing Bablee in Aashirwad, on Zee.
This pretty-young theatre actress talks a lot. And smiles infectiously too. Her problem though, is that she has been typecast into comic roles and is 8220;desperate for a different-kind of role8230; something that is not comedy8221;, to quote her.
This Virgo gal she was born on 4th September and refuses to divulge the year, is a Parsi and a pukka Bombayite. Her parents encouraged her to join theatre once her schooling was over. Her first break came through Dinyaar Contractor. At an elocution which she won in her school, Dinyaar was the judge. He insisted on her meeting him as soon as her SSC was done.
And she bagged a part in the famous comedy Kitty Kitty Bang Bang. It was a negative role, but a major one for the debutante. After that she went on to do a whole horde of plays, mostly with Dinyaar 8211; including some like Carry On Papa with Tiku Talsania, Darling Darling and Hotel Motel Patel among so many others.
8220;I found my name attached a bit too much with Dinyaar and no other director was willing to approach me. So I decided to free-lance,8221; she explains. Delnaaz has mostly done English theatre, no Hindi for her. She8217;s also done some Gujju plays.
Even though her first break in the television world came while she was still in college, immediately after completing an MA in history, her passion for teaching overpowered her. She actually quit showbiz and took to teaching. Finally, when she could not resist the pull of glamour, she quit teaching and came back to acting once and for all.
Some of her other serials include Dekh Tamasha Dekh, Gubbare, Rishtey, Colgate Top 10: and her future ones are Papa Jaldi Aa Jaana, Yes Boss and a gujju serial. As for her marital status, this pretty-young-thing is blissfully married to telly actor Rajiv Paul. A case of love at first sight, that8217;s how it was8230; Tsk, tsk all you guys.
