Team India is now banking on the man who turned the career of Vivian Richards in the 1970s to make the younger stars “improve as better players and persons” — renowned sports psychologist Dr Rudi Webster.“He is someone we thought of a long time ago,” said skipper Rahul Dravid, adding, “but we decided to use him for this week, especially because it gives him a chance to work with the one-day team and also with those who come for the Tests. It will give him a chance to meet and interact with the whole squad.”Webster, who will be working on confidence levels in the side, will be with the team for seven days. “We hope that in the long-term, it will definitely benefit us. He has worked with some great teams, he knows a lot about the mental side of the game, and anyone who knows his work will appreciate what he can contribute. It’s just a chance for us to expose our youngsters to a different line of thinking, to give them a chance to meet eminent people from other fields,” said Dravid.
