AMBALA, June 14: More than 500 candidates from Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Yamunanagar, Panipat, Sonepat, Rohtak and Panchkula districts in Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh turned up on the first day of the army recruitment rally being held till June 26 in the cantonment area here.

Stating this here, recruiting headquarter (Ambala zone) deputy director general Brigadier P.S. Sandhu said since April last such rallies were also held at Palampur, Hisar, Sabathu and even in Lahaul-Spiti district in Himachal Pradesh.

According to the new recruitment norms and procedures which came into effect from April last, two independent recruitment teams duly nominated by Brigadier Sandhu are screening the candidates. These teams would carry out physical fitness tests, physical measurements and medical examinations of the candidates. The written examinations, however, will be held on June 28 at the recruitment venue.
