3 killed in accident

Three persons were killed, when a two-wheeler collided with a truck near Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas on Saturday morning.

Three persons were killed, when a two-wheeler collided with a truck near Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas on Saturday morning.

The victims, Dipak Khardin 24, Bapi Bisayee 25 and Amal Sardar 23, all local traders, were travelling in the two-wheeler. The victims were on their way to their shops when the accident occurred. They were rushed to a nearby hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

Locals staged a protest against rash driving and demanded arrest of the truck driver. They blocked the road for two hours and the blockade was removed only after the police intervened.

8220;We have asked the authorities to construct a speed breaker on the road but the administration never paid heed,8221; said a local. The driver of the lorry is absconding. Bodies of the victims have been sent for autopsy.
