She’s the one who married a man 10 years her junior. She’s a modern, urban woman: a professional grappling with personal dilemmas, dignfied but vulnerable. Now, if only she loved Dr. Manas instead.

4. Did it belong to Devyani (Karishma… The Miracles of Destiny, Sahara)?
Actress Karishma Kapoor is the first Bollywood blockbuster star to act in a TV serial, that too a daily – while her film career is still intact. She’s also the only actress to simultaneously play three women of different ages. Now, if only the ratings were better.

5. Did it belong to Jassi (Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Sony)?
The middle class girl who enters the fashion world and takes it by storm on account of her brains – not looks. She’s endearing, she’s ugly – she’s different. Now, if only Armaan-Sir loved her.

6. Or did it belong to the TV news channels?
2003 saw the launch of four new 24-hour news channels – Headlines Today, NDTV 24×7, NDTV India, Sahara Samay and the relaunch of two others – DD News and Star News. Whether you are Judeo or Jogi you can’t escape them. Now, if only they’d stop ‘breaking news’.
