Depressed after having failed her SSC examination, a 16-year-old committed suicide on Tuesday. Pallavi Rajesh Kadam lived in Navjala Chawl on the Dhayabhai Patel Road with her widowed mother Sunita Kadam 35, her maternal uncle Laxman Mahadik 37 and her grandmother. A case of suicide has been registered at the Dindoshi police station.

On Tuesday, she returned home at 2 pm after her classes for the next examination and informed her grandmother that she was going to the fourth floor to sleep. At around 3 pm, her uncle Mahadik found her body hanging from the ceiling. She was immediately rushed to Mava Desai Hospital but was declared brought dead.

8220;We believe that Pallavi may have been mentally disturbed after failing the examination,8221; said Senior Police Inspector Utam Khairmode of the Dindoshi police station.

Body found on Marine Drive
An unidentified body floated on to the tetra pods on Marine Drive opposite Marine Plaza hotel on Tuesday evening, said police. A pedestrian alerted the police who along with the fire brigade rushed to the spot. With the help of the lifeguards of the fire brigade, the body was recovered and handed over to the police. 8220;The body is of a 25-year-old man and it must have come from other parts of the coast. He seems to be suffering from polio. So far, the only identification mark on his body is an 8216;Om tattoo8217; on his right arm,8221; said Police Sub-Inspector S Garud of the Marine Drive police station.
