
PUNE, Oct 28: Taking serious note of the large-scale irregularities in land records in Pune city and Haveli taluka, Divisional Commissioner Arun Bhatia has forwarded over 1300 cases to district collector Vijay Kumar Gautam to initiate legal action against the concerned officials.
Bhatia, who had launched a special drive last month to settle the complaints regarding land records, had received 1696 complaints during the period. He had subsequently set up 16 teams to look into the complaints. The teams were headed by upper district collector, deputy collector and tehsildar.
Bhatia today told The Indian Express that the thorough scrutiny of the complaints revealed that 1361 complaints out of 1696, which he had received, were prima facie genuine. The scrutiny found that 18 complaints were 8220;very serious8221; while 111 cases were 8220;serious8221; in their nature. Bhatia said as many as 13 talathies are involved 8220;serious8221; cases.
The investigation revealed that the revenue officials had committed serious mistakes like non-execution of the instructions issued by the senior officers, recording wrong heirs, neglecting 7/12 records and keeping the cases pending without taking any decision for several years. The investigation found that in as many as 74 cases the land records were made by neglecting record of previous 10 years.
Bhatia said he had already forwarded all these cases to Gautam to initiate legal action against the concerned officials. He said the drive was launched on experimental basis since he had received a large complaints about land records from farmers. He said the complainants had mainly asked the objectives of the revenue department and also made allegations of corruption and unnecessary delay. He said the drive was undertaken to confirm whether revenue officials resort to corrupt practices while making the land records.
