This DIY mixture promises glowing skin; we decode its effectiveness
It is important to be cautious when applying anything on your face, as your facial skin is more sensitive and fragile, said Dr Shareefa Chause, dermatologist and cosmetologist, Shareefa's Skin Care Clinic.

Skincare is extremely subjective: what may work for someone may not yield the desired results for you. But if you still feel overwhelmed by the number of skincare tips and tricks on social media wondering if you should try them, worry not, we are here to decode them for you. Today, we start with a “social media” remedy that promises glowing skin using a mixture of ground flax seeds, rice, almonds, and coffee with raw milk and vitamin E capsule. According to Instagram user Deepika Arora, applying this externally can result in glowing skin.
“All you have to do is to make the dry mix. Use one part of the mixture (that can be kept in the refrigerator for 15 days), and mix it with some raw milk and 1 vitamin E capsule. Let the mix sit for 5-7 minutes. And then apply it on your face. Allow it to dry and wash it off,” said Arora.
Intrigued, we turned to an expert to decode the effectiveness of this DIY remedy.

Coffee is among the key ingredients found in various skincare products due to its antioxidant and anti-ageing properties, experts suggest. Although coffee can be beneficial in various ways, applying it directly on the face can cause skin irritation, cautioned Dr Shareefa Chause, dermatologist and cosmetologist, Shareefa’s Skin Care Clinic.
She also warned against applying coffee over your face in excessive quantities.
Similarly, people with sensitive skin should avoid using flax seed on their face, as it can trigger various allergies and result in rashes, burning sensations, and itching, added Dr Chause.
The coarse nature of the mixture itself may not go down well with your face, Dr Chause mentioned.

Things to keep in mind
It is important to be cautious when applying anything on your face, as your facial skin is more sensitive and fragile, stressed Dr Chause. “Always consult your doctor before trying new hacks or home remedies on your face for medical guidance to avoid any allergic reaction,” added Dr Chause.
