Living in an era of easy access to wellness remedies and hacks can be both a boon and a bane. One of the most common issues that many people face is indigestion, bloating, and a loss of appetite. While looking for the root cause with a proper diagnosis is essential in the long term, if reoccurrence is a constant, a few quick home DIY remedies do work sometimes. Recently, we came across one such ginger marinate remedy that can be prepared at home and kept in a jar. Nutritionist Leema Mahajan recommended it in a post on Instagram.

“Indigestion is the main reason for bloating and ginger can help you get relief from it and improve appetite. It also has antispasmodic (helps deal with pain due to gas movement) properties, improves digestive issues, and reduces excess waste,” said Mahajan.

Ginger, known for its distinct spicy flavour, is rich in gingerol, a bioactive substance with anti-nausea, anti-inflammatory, and digestive benefits. “Ginger’s ability to stimulate saliva and digestive enzymes, combined with the anti-inflammatory properties of lime juice, can soothe the gastrointestinal tract,” said dietitian Vidhi Chawla, Fisico Diet and Aesthetic Clinic.

According to Chawla, ginger can potentially aid weight loss efforts by boosting metabolism and curbing unhealthy cravings.

Whether you’re aiming to support your immune system, improve digestion, or alleviate pain, ginger does offer a holistic approach to wellness. However, Chawla advised that as with any herbal remedy, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare professional, if you have underlying health issues.
