Just like Rome wasn’t built in a day, your health needs continuous nourishment day in and day out. That’s something model and actor Dia Mirza staunchly believes in. “Skin is a reflection of your mental and physical health. A good hydration, a good diet including fruits and vegetables, regular exercise, and good sleep are all important,” said Mirza.

She added, “I also have a pretty disciplined routine. I don’t keep long or late hours. I sleep early, I wake up early. I think all of that really helps.”

Elaborating on how she manages her health, she said, “There are different kinds of water that I consume throughout the day. In the summer months, I drink alkalised water with mint and cucumbers. I let it sit for some time and then sip it through the day. I also drink boiled carom and fennel seeds water regularly,” said Mirza in a conversation with TweakIndia.

Her workout routine is a mash-up of different things. “3-4 days in a week I do yoga with lots of stretching and breathing. Rest of the days I do a combination of weight training and strength and flexibility training. I love child’s pose and tree pose – centering, powerful, and calming poses,” said Mirza.

Sharing about her favourite breakfast of all time which is South Indian, Mirza also recalled her childhood experience of growing up in Hyderabad. “I love a good Masala Dosa and a good vada. Breakfast time in Hyderabad meant breakfast with daadi. Even though we were a joint family with their different sections of the house having a kitchen, but on that one Sunday morning, we we would congregate at Daadi’s and have breakfast together. She used to make this Hyderabadi breakfast staple. She used to make a khichdi, different from the illness one, a light Pulao-style rice made with lentils, has the most beautiful fragrance, is served with sesame and green chillies chutney. All kinds of papads,” said the 41-year-old.

Mirza, who is also a doting mother to two-year-old Avyaan, shared that she loves to kickstart her mornings with her son. “I kickstart my mornings with my little son telling his nanny ‘Avyaan wants to disturb Mamma’. Him climbing into bed, morning cuddles, and lots of love describe it,” expressed Mirza.

The Dhak Dhak actor, who is a self-confessed “100 per cent chai” or tea person, said that she likes to have black tea in the morning. “I have been having a chai, a black chai. I try and avoid dairy. This black tea is brewed with lemongrass. I drink it only with jaggery. It is called black cha,” shared Mirza.

Black tea, a common base for chai, contains antioxidants and may promote heart health. Jaggery, a natural sweetener, provides some minerals and is considered a healthier alternative to refined sugar. “Lemongrass is recognized for its digestive properties, potentially easing indigestion and promoting a healthy digestive system,” said clinical dietitian Garima Goyal.

As with any dietary choices, individual responses may vary, and it’s advisable to monitor how your body reacts to this chai blend for personalised insights into its effects on your well-being.
