Jacqueline Fernandez, 40, gave her fans and followers a glimpse into her wellness routine, revealing that she began practising yoga 17 years ago when she first arrived in India from Sri Lanka.

“Yoga is what I started when I first came to India. I have continued it over the years. It just completely changed me and opened my eyes to the world. It’s like a Zen-like experience. However, it also takes care of various aspects, including your mind, flexibility, mobility, strengthening, and toning. For me, one of the best things is to start your day with,” the Housefull actor said.

Describing her routine to CurlyTales x Mashable India, she continued, “I target 3 days of the week with weight training, which covers the upper body, back, and lower body. I try to fit in four times a week of yoga, and sometimes, I might do Pilates. I am making efforts to do weights, especially this year. Balancing postures are important for coordination, mental clarity, focus, and show you where your mind is. I really love doing yoga. Once I complete my oral hygiene, shower, prayers, and meditation, I love to practice yoga. For me, that’s the best way to start my day.

Sharing that while her alarm is set for 6:30 am, she usually “rolls out of bed probably by 7 am,” Jacqueline said, “That’s when I start my bathroom and oral hygiene routine, and then I move into hydration.” It is a very important part of me. I tend to forget during the day, so I get my hydration in the morning, which is definitely not tea or coffee.”

She continued, “I must admit I was such a coffee person in the morning because I would jump out of bed and rush to shoot and have coffee break on the way.”

But now, she has one litre of infused water. “I drink a litre of water infused with lemon, mint, and sea salt. You can also use pink Himalayan salt or Celtic salt. We need electrolytes in our system, and this is the best time to have them, which is the first thing in the morning. You are hydrated and infused with minerals. I try to finish, but if not able to, then sip it through the yoga class.”

She then revealed that she breaks her intermittent fasting with this drink, and her breakfast is usually a little later in the day. “I usually break my fast with this drink, but I have a solid breakfast a little bit later in the day.”

Consultant dietitian and fitness coach Garima Goyal described such a fitness routine as diverse, consistent, and balanced. “She combines yoga, Pilates, functional training, and even pole-dancing in her regimen, so she works different muscle groups, improves flexibility and maintains body symmetry,” Goyal said.

In the diet, aiming for a balance of macronutrients, including carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and vegetables, in every meal is a positive way to support one’s health.

Combining strength, flexibility, and cardio challenges the body holistically, while controlled portions avoid spikes in sugars or unnecessary calories. “Her approach shows that sustainability, doing something you can maintain, often carries more benefit than short bursts of extreme effort,” said Goyal.
