Actor Bhagyashree regularly uses her social media platform to share health and fitness tips with her followers every Tuesday. This week, she posted a video elaborating on the importance of hip strengthening exercises and suggesting three easy workouts any beginner can start with.

“Hip tightness? These are simple everyday stretches that can help you relieve the pain,” the actor captioned the Instagram post.

Indianexpress.com reached out to Deepika Sharma, a physical trainer at Nurturing Wellness, to learn about the benefits of the exercises suggested by the actor, and why they are crucial for women in their 40s.

1. Camel Pose Stretch

This deep backbend helps counteract the effects of poor posture and prolonged sitting. It opens the chest, strengthens the spine, and improves lung capacity. Regular practice enhances flexibility in the back and shoulders while providing a natural energy boost.

2. Seated Twist

A gentle yet effective way to improve spinal mobility, the seated twist relieves stiffness and promotes better digestion. This movement supports a healthy gut and reduces bloating by engaging the core and stimulating the abdominal organs. It also helps release tension from the lower back.

3. Deep Glute Stretch

Tight glutes can contribute to lower back pain and hip discomfort. A deep glute stretch targets these muscles, releasing built-up tension and improving overall hip mobility. This stretch is particularly beneficial for those who experience sciatic nerve pain or stiffness from prolonged sitting.

“For women in their late thirties and forties, the body undergoes many changes – they stop retaining calcium and with any excess strain on the body, start leaching out calcium from the bones. Any deficiency in the body is also compensated by our muscles and organs working hard to keep the functionality going,” said Sharma. Thus, these three exercises help maintain flexibility, tighten muscles, and beat joint stiffness.
