Alaya F has been working on strength-endurance lately

For fitness buffs, it is essential to keep adding variety to one’s routine to keep monotony away. As such, Alaya F too shares snippets from her workouts that are kept diversified to break away from boredom. Just like it is important to work on one’s strength, it is also essential to work on one’s strength-endurance to reap maximum benefits and help strengthen the body even in its resting period. So, recently, the Freddy actor was seen doing squats with medicine ball overhead press with trainer Anushka Nandani.

For the unversed, the squat and the overhead press are two power-house moves that hit big fat-torching muscles like your glutes, quads, and shoulders. “When merged together, you can work a ton of muscles at once and save time. While strength is an essential skill, everyday life will generally demand strength endurance. Think of this as a lower level of force that you can sustain over more extended periods of time. Exercises like the medicine ball squat to overhead press will help develop your strength-endurance that can have very positive benefits for your daily life and health,” said fitness expert Garima Goyal.

According to Goyal, simple activities such as carrying children or shopping bags demand strength and postural control over more extended periods. “Including strength-endurance exercises in your workouts regularly will quickly increase your fitness and work capacity,” said Goyal.

Not long ago, Alaya was also seen doing straddle stretch in splits.

“Stretching is often needed to practice a perfect split. This stretch routine will provide a great stretch through your hamstrings, inner thighs, torso, shoulders, back, calves and feet, also adding to flexibility. Stretching helps to add elasticity and flexibility to your legs. It’s a powerful hip opener and groin stretch,” Goyal mentioned.

Why do the straddle stretch?

Goyal said that it improves circulation to the abdominal and pelvic region. “Stretches and strengthens the spine,” said Goyal.

Goyal said that preparatory poses — such as wide angle seated forward bend, single leg forward bend, and half monkey pose — are recommended before attempting straight angle pose,
