The Eiffel Tower is a famous landmark in Paris, France, and also one of the most recognised structures in the world. An enduring symbol of the city and the country, it is visited by millions of tourists every year and provides breathtaking views of the city. But, what if we tell you that there are not one but two Eiffel Towers in Paris currently? Yes, you read that right!

A 104-foot replica of the original Eiffel Tower, which looks as real as the original, has been erected near the original tower on the Champ de Mars. Known as ‘Eiffela’, it was created by artist Philippe Maindron and is just a tenth of the size of the original. “I am a creator of odd events. And I had a dream that the Eiffel Tower has a baby,” the artist told Reuters.

The iron replica, which was erected on April Fool’s Day, is made of 3,900 large pieces and 9,000 smaller metallic pieces. “This is why visually, it’s deceiving, because depending on which angle we view it from, we have this impression of seeing two Eiffel Towers, or a small and a big Eiffel Tower, or that the baby can look as big as the mommy. And that’s what’s funny this idea of perspective that we have in the space, in 3D,” Maindron said.

To make it more amusing for visitors, the sound of a baby crying emanates from Eiffela every ten minutes “We’ve got two Eiffel Towers for the price of one,” a Parisian passing through the park told AFP.

Maindron told the outlet: “Seven years ago I had the idea to build the Eiffel Tower on a scale of one to ten. The aim is to create a moment of lightness, of tranquillity. In the current economic climate, I think we really need this and there is no other objective than to create happiness and peace. create bonds.”

Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, welcome the arrival of this baby Eiffel Tower with a humorous tweet. “A world symbol, the Eiffel Tower blew out its 134 candles yesterday in very good company. Well- Life, Eiffel!” she wrote.

According to The Parisian newspaper, the small replica of the tower will be exhibited at Campo de Marte until April 10.
