The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has started the process to fill up 4,08,591 posts across departments and ministries, the Parliament was informed today. Of these, a total of 1,05,338 posts will be filled in the year 2019-2020, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Jitendra Singh informed while answering to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
Singh informed that since 2014, a total of 24,682 posts have been filled by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), of which 19680 were through the structured exam and 5,002 through direct recruitment by selection. Further, the SSC has filled 2,14,223 posts from 2014-19.
The railways alone have recruited at 1.84 lakh posts. Of the total, 1,00,662 posts of level-1 have been filled from 2014-19 in the Railways. The minister informed the House that additionally 5,705 posts were created Railways’ Gazetted level posts.
In reply to another question in Rajya Sabha, Singh had informed that over 6.83 lakh (6,83,823) posts are lying vacant in the central government. Of these, 19,896 posts are in group A while 29333 posts are in group B, 5,74,289 posts in group C level posts. Further, 60,305 posts in non-gazetted posts are yet to be filled.
