Mystery shrouds the death of two IIT-Bhubaneswar students whose bodies were found by the railway line here in the city,police said.
The students were identified as female student B Tajeswari and D Dinesh,a male student,both about 21 years of age who were first year students of IIT here and belonged to Andhra Pradesh.
While Tajeswari was a resident of Srikakulam district,Dinesh hailed from Hyderabad,Government Railway Police (GRP) said.
Their severed bodies were found by the railway line under the Satyanagar over-bridge here,GRP officer S R Kar said.
The victims,whose college bags were strapped on to their shoulders,were hit by Khurda-Kharagpur DMU train at about 5.30 PM,Kar said,adding that they stayed in a nearby hostel on other side of the railway line.
IIT-Bhubaneswar register B K Ray termed the incident as an “accident”,though the police do not subscribe to it.
“It could be a case of suicide,” a police officer investigating the matter said,adding that the students used to walk down the same road everyday.
The bodies were sent for autopsy to Capital Hospital and their parents were informed,police said.
