Constable attempts self-immolation in Jammu

A police constable attempted to commit suicide allegedly after a verbal spat with his wife in Akhnoor belt of Jammu district,police said.

After an argument with his wife,constable Parshotam Kumar entered into his bedroom,poured kerosene oil and set himself ablaze in Campnai Wali village in Akhnoor tehsil on Wednesday night,Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Akhnoor Altaf Ahmed said.

As the neighbours saw flames coming out of the house,they rushed to Kumar’s room,doused the flames and shifted him to the hospital with 25 percent burn injuries,he said.

A case has been registered against him and investigation have been initiated.
