As per the RBI holiday list 2026, banks across various cities will remain closed for 10 days in January, excluding the second and fourth Saturdays. Therefore, the citizens are advised to check the holiday list in advance before planning a visit to their bank.

In January 2026, banks will remain closed on the following dates; customers are advised to also check the city-wise list of holidays.

January 1: On January 1, 2026, bank branches in Aizawl, Chennai, Gangtok, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata, and Shillong will remain closed on the occasion of New Year’s Day/Gaan-Ngai.
January 2: On January 2, 2026, bank branches in Aizawl, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed on the occasion of New Year celebrations/Mannam Jayanthi.
January 3: On January 3, 2026, bank branches in Lucknow will remain closed on the occasion of birthday of Hazrat Ali.
January 12: On January 12, 2026, bank branches in Kolkata will remain closed on the occasion of birth Day of Swami Vivekananda.
January 14: On January 14, 2026, bank branches in Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati and Itanagar will remain closed on the occasion of Makar Sankranti/Magh Bihu.
January 15: On January 15, 2026, bank branches in Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok, Hyderabad and Vijayawada will remain closed on the occasion of Uttarayana Punyakala/Pongal/Maghe Sankranti/Makara Sankranti.
January 16: On January 16, 2026, bank branches in Chennai will remain closed on the occasion of Thiruvalluvar Day.
January 17: On January 17, 2026, bank branches in Chennai will remain closed on the occasion of Uzhavar Thirunal.
January 23: On January 23, 2026, bank branches in Agartala, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata will remain closed on the occasion of birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose/Saraswati Puja (Shree Panchami)/Vir Surendrasai Jayanti/Basanta Panchami.
