A day after flagging off the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in five states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Varanasi on Sunday. He is on a two-day visit in his parliamentary constituency to participate in the Yatra programme at Uttar Pardesh’s Barki village.
Interacting with the beneficiaries of the programme, he said: “If 140 crore countrymen take a resolve to make the nation developed, then India will surely become ‘Viksit’ (developed) by 2047.” He also spoke about the need for people to encourage a “spirit” for development, similar to the “freedom fever” that was prevalent during the Independence struggle.
Later in the evening, Modi launched the second edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam at the Namo Ghat and flagged off the Kashi Tamil Sangamam Express, which is to ply between Kanyakumari and Varanasi.
The Kashi Tamil Sangamam, scheduled to be held from December 17-31, will witness the participation of 1,400 dignitaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. They will visit Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya, as per the official statement.
On Monday, Modi will participate in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra programme at Barki Gram Sabha of Sewapuri development block. He will also lay the foundation stone of 37 projects in Varanasi and the Purvanchal region at this event.
PM Modi, on Saturday, launched the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in the five states — Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram — where assembly elections were held recently.
Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is being undertaken across the country with the aim to attain saturation of flagship government schemes through ensuring that the benefits of these schemes reach all the targeted beneficiaries in a time-bound manner.
