Tatra case: Tejinder Singh told to appear on Sept 1

The special Judge while taking cognizance of the chargesheet has also summoned the accused on September 1.

A Delhi court on Thursday took cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the CBI against Lt General (retd) Tejinder Singh in connection with alleged bribe offered to former Army chief Gen V K Singh in the Tatra trucks deal.

The special Judge while taking cognizance of the chargesheet has also summoned the accused on September 1.

“On the basis of the material on record there is sufficient ground to take cognizance of offence under section 12 of PC Act,1988 (i.e abetment of section 7 of PC Act,1988) though the offence under section 7 of PC Act was not committed in consequence of the said abetment and I accordingly take cognizance under section of PC Act, 1988,” special judge Madhu Jain said.

The special court also has relied upon the statements of former defence minister A K Antony made in Rajya Sabha in 2012. “I have gone through the statements of Shri A K Antony in which he has stated in the Upper House that Gen V K Singh had informed him about the bribe offered by Lt. General (retd) Tejinder Singh,” the special judge said.
