Former Maharashtra chief minister and Congress leader Ashok Chavan,who has been in a political exile after being named an accused in the multi-crore Adarsh housing scam,said on Monday he was ready to accept any responsibility the party deemed fit for him.
As far as my future political course is concerned,I will accept any responsibility the party asks me to take up, Chavan said.
He was talking to reporters here after paying obeisance at the Shirdi shrine.
Chavan said he had appealed to at least three ministers from Ahmednagar district to approach the state and Central governments with a draft plan to hold functions marking the centenary of Saibaba Samadhi Mandir in 2018,on the lines of Gur-ta-Gaddi in his home turf Nanded in 2008. Gur-ta-Gaddi event had been held to mark 300 years of Guru Granth Sahib.
On drought,he said inadequate rainfall had caused scarcity conditions in Marathwada region,adding that projects announced by the state government in Marathwada and Vidarbha regions were stuck due to lack of funds.
Chavan evaded a direct reply on Deputy Chief Minister and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawars statement that his party would demand more seats if NCP outdid its alliance partner Congress by winning more seats in the 2014 Assembly polls.
