In a follow-up to the busting of a terrorist module by the Fatehgarh Sahib police,one Janpal Singh,a resident of Rangana village in Shamli district (UP),has been arrested in a joint operation with the Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad(ATS).
Gurmeet Singh Chauhan,SSP,Fatehgarh Sahib,said with this arrest,the total number of arrested persons in the terrorist module has gone up to 16,while the number of recovered weapons has increased to 13. He said Janpal Singh had figured in the investigation as the UP-based supplier of illegal weapons to the terrorist module which had developed acquaintance through UAE-based channels.
Janpal was produced before the judicial magistrate on September 25 and remanded in police custody till September 30. His arrest reveals the inter-state linkages developed by the terrorist module with procurement of weapons from Maharashtra and UP.
Chauhan revealed that this operation as well as previous ones to nab the ring leader Satnam Singh and Gurwinder Singh,weapons supplier,were conducted jointly with special anti-terrorist units of the concerned states and the local district police.
