Three die in road accident at Tarn Taran village
Amritsar: Three persons died in a head-on collision between a Bolero and an 18-wheeler truck,on Thursday,near Khan Razada village on Fatehabad to Chohla Sahib road in Tarn Taran district. The deceased were identified as Jaswinder Singh (35),Jashanpreet (16) and Neeraj Kumar (32).

Excise officer caught asking for bribe
Chandigarh: An excise inspector was caught red-handed by Punjab Vigilance Bureau Thursday while accepting a bribe of
Rs 30,000 from a wine contractor. Rajnish Kumar,posted at Malerkotla in Sangrur,was arrested after he was caught accepting the bribe from complainant Subash Chander. The complainant had approached the Bureau and alleged that a sum of Rs 15,000 was already paid to the inspector in lieu of not fining his wine shop and had been asking for more money.
BJP concerned over rights violations in Punjab
Amritsar: The BJP on Thursday expressed concern over incidents of human rights violations by the police officials in Punjab. State BJP chief Kamal Sharma said that they will take up the issue with the SAD to ensure that incidents such as thrashing of a girl by police officials in Tarn Taran are not repeated. He also expressed concern over the mysterious death of ASI in Geobala village in Tarn Taran.
