‘Ram Charan danced to entire piece of background music in a single shot for Raa Macha Macha’: Game Changer director Shankar
Filmmaker Shankar and composer Thaman S shed light on how they drew inspiration from the folk music of different states to craft Ram Charan’s powerful entry song "Raa Macha Macha" in Game Changer.

Filmmaker Shankar, who is directing Ram Charan’s highly anticipated film Game Changer, recently sat down with the film’s music composer, Thaman S, to discuss the creation of the film’s upcoming track, “Raa Macha Macha”. During their conversation, the duo shed light on how they drew inspiration from the folk music of four different states—Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal—to craft Ram Charan’s powerful entry song in the film.
The duo revealed that the recording process for the song took two days, primarily due to the need to capture the unique voices of the various folk artistes involved. “It was quite a challenge to bring all those cultural elements into one song,” Thaman shared. He added, “I believe this is the first time a song has been created with so many diverse cultural influences. The song also features 1,000 dancers, which makes it an even bigger celebration. I feel that when it releases, people will not only enjoy and dance to it but also appreciate the rich musical heritage of Andhra Pradesh.”
Praising Ram Charan’s dancing abilities, Shankar noted, “Ram Charan is an exceptional dancer. I’m not sure if I should reveal this, but he danced to an entire piece of background music in a single shot. The music is exceptional, as it combines elements from various states into one cohesive background score. It will truly be a treat for Ram Charan fans.” Shankar also took a moment to acknowledge the brilliant contributions of the song’s lyricist, Ananta Sriram, and its choreographer, Ganesh Acharya.
Game Changer is produced by Dil Raju under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. The second single from the film, “Raa Macha Macha”, is set for release on September 30. Alongside Ram Charan, the film also stars Kiara Advani, marking her debut in Telugu cinema. Previously, the filmmakers unveiled the song “Jaragandi”, which featured both Ram Charan and Kiara Advani.
