Yashpal Sharma: ‘South film industries are more professional than Bollywood’

Yashpal Sharma made his Telugu debut way back with the 2007 film called Lakshyam. The actor fondly recalled working in the movie, which according to him was a bigger success than Rajinikanth’s Sivaji, released in the same year. He shared how they took care of him well even during a one-day trip for patchwork. The actor noted that the cheques given from the production houses down South don’t bounce. 

After heaping praise on the Telugu film industry, he said, “Tamil industry is even better. So many talented people are there. I worked on a movie named Ayothi directed by Manthira Moorthi. The movie earned a lot of critical acclaim despite being made on a small budget. Everyone from Rajinikanth and important ministers watched that movie and kept praising it. The director is a really talented guy.”

In Ayothi, which won the top prize at the Chennai International Film Festival, Yashpal played the role of a misogynistic patriarch who torments his family due to his superstitious beliefs. 

Yashpal Sharma has also acted in Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu and Don Seenu.
