Vishal lashes out at Chennai Mayor for poor handling of flood situation: ‘I put my head down in shame’

Tamil actor Vishal has hit out at the Chennai Mayor and other authorities for not building adequate infrastructure to handle the floods.

The city of Chennai, affected by Cyclone Michaung, is grappling with severe flooding and rain-related incidents, prompting Vishal to pen a scathing note directed at Chennai Mayor Priya Rajan and other officials of the Greater Chennai Corporation. The actor, known for his activism, expressed his disappointment with the way the flood situation was handled by the corporation and government. He questioned the effectiveness of the infrastructure installed by the government spending hundreds of crores.

In a lengthy Twitter post, Vishal lashed out at the corporation, highlighting the dire conditions faced by ordinary citizens. He questioned the efficacy of the stormwater drain project, wondering if it was intended for ‘Singapore or Chennai’.

He wrote, “Dear Ms Priya Rajan (Mayor of Chennai) and to one & all other officers of Greater Chennai Corporation including the Commissioner. Hope you all are safe & sound with your families & water especially drainage water not entering your houses & most importantly hope you have unconditional supply of food & electricity. Just checking as a Voter coz as Citizens living in the same city as you are, we are not in the same position. I wonder if the entire storm water drain project was meant for Singapore or Chennai?”

The actor concluded, “I put my head down in shame as I write to you. Awaiting not a miracle but wat is called DUTY to Citizens. God Bless.”
