The 2004 blockbuster Tamil film Ghilli, starring “Thalapathy” Vijay and Trisha, was re-released in select theatres across India on April 20. On its opening day, the film minted Rs 8 crore worldwide, Pinkvilla reported, with Rs 4.75 crore solely from the domestic market, while the remainder came from overseas. Besides Vijay and Trisha, the film also stars Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi, Janaki Sabesh, Dhamu and Tanikella Bharani among others.

Trisha took to her Instagram handle and shared her excitement over the romantic action comedy’s re-release. Sharing the poster of the film, Trisha wrote, “If this is not coming full circle I don’t know what is. Woke up to FDFS BLOCKBUSTER vibes AGAIN. 2004 (infinity emoji) 2024.”

Interestingly, the Vijay film minted more than Rajnikanth’s recent film Lal Salaam. Helmed by Rajnikanth’s daughter Aishwarya, the film collected just Rs 3.55 crore (nett) in India on the opening day.
