On Thursday, Tamil star Vijay, fondly known as Thalapathy by fans, asked his Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (Vijay People’s Movement) to work with the Tamil Nadu government and the Chennai Corporation to help the people of the state, who are stuck in flood and stagnant water without essentials. Videos of his fans working on the ground helping people have gone viral on social media, and now, a clip of Vijay speaking to one such VMI member and thanking him for their service has gone viral among his fans.

In the clip, Vijay thanked the members for helping the people based on his request and added that more than anything their safety should be their priority. “Thanks for doing all of this… I hope all of you are safe,” he said. When the fan stated that they are doing it all for his words, Vijay said, “Yes, I only asked you all but still your safety is more important.”

Earlier, a video of two members of VMI walking through chest-high water carrying drinking water for the stranded people went viral. The stagnant water was also mixed with unknown chemicals and the residents were worried that it would catch fire. Here’s the clip:

This place looks very dangerous with toxic chemicals. Even the police, politicians, and local administration have avoided this place. But #VijayMakkalIyakkam members have boldly stepped in and rescued people. 👏 #ThalapathyVijaypic.twitter.com/FlQNB7jwnq
