Maharashtra Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladaki Bahin Yojana: Check benefits, eligibility, EKYC deadline, and how to apply

The Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana has resurfaced in the Maharashtra Assembly after thousands of ineligible beneficiaries were flagged. The scheme offers ₹1,500 monthly aid to eligible women aged 21–65, with strict rules on qualifications and disqualification.

Ladki Bahin Yojana ekyc Online: The Maharashtra government on June 28, 2024, cleared the rollout of the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladaki Bahin‘ scheme, has come into focus once again amid the ongoing Maharashtra Assembly Session. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was seen rebuking a BJP MLA during the Assembly session for “unnecessarily” bringing up the ‘Ladaki Bahin Yojana’ in his address. The ekyc deadline for the scheme is on December 31, 2025.

In October, The Indian Express reported that the Maharashtra government had found at least 12,431 men had been granted benefits under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladaki Bahin Yojana. Following the report, the Women and Child Development (WCD) Department, which runs the scheme, said that these men have been removed from the list of beneficiaries, along with 77,980 women who were also identified as ineligible.

What is the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladaki Bahin Yojana?

The government scheme is aimed at supporting women’s financial independence, improving their health and nutrition, and strengthening their role within families. As part of the initiative, eligible women aged 21 to 65 receive a monthly assistance of Rs 1,500 through direct benefit transfer.

Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladaki Bahin Yojana Eligibility

To be eligible for the scheme, the woman:

  • Must be a resident of Maharashtra aged between 21 and 65 years.
  • Married, widowed, divorced, abandoned and destitute women are eligible, along with only one unmarried woman in a family.
  • Possess an Aadhaar-linked bank account.
  • Must be from a family with annual income not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh.

When can a person be disqualified from the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladaki Bahin Yojana?

Any beneficiary other than a woman will be disqualified if they are found to to be taking benefits of the scheme. They may even face legal action.

Any woman will be disqualified if:

  • The family’s combined annual income is above ₹2.5 lakh.
  • Any family member is an income tax payer.
  • Any family member is a regular or permanent employee of a government department, undertaking, board or local body of the Centre or the state, or is drawing a pension after retirement. (Employees hired through external agencies, voluntary workers and contractual staff earning up to ₹2.5 lakh annually remain eligible.)
  • The woman already receives ₹1,500 or more per month under another government financial scheme.
  • Any family member is a current or former MP or MLA.
  • Any family member holds the position of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Director or Member in any government board, corporation or undertaking.
  • The family owns a four-wheeler, except tractors.

Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladaki Bahin Yojana Application Process

Interested women can apply online at: ladakibahin.maharashtra.gov.in.

The Maharashtra government is providing a one-time option for EKYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) documents submission and verification. This will have to be done by December 31, 2025.

Women who cannot apply online can fill out their applications offline through Anganwadi Sevikas, Supervisors, Head Sevikas, Setu Suvidha Kendras, Gram Sevikas, Community Resource Persons (CRPs), ASHA workers, Ward Officers, City Mission Managers, Municipal Balwadi Sevikas, Help Desk Heads or Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendras.

No application fee will be charged.

Applicants must ensure that their name, date of birth and address match their Aadhaar details, and that their bank information and mobile number are entered correctly.
