Vanangaan teaser: Arun Vijay fits well in Bala’s universe of realism and violence
Arun Vijay and Bala have joined hands for the first time, and the film looks like yet another violent story in the director's stable.

Director Bala is back with the teaser of his upcoming film Vanangaan, which features a typical ‘Bala hero’. With discolored hair and an ever-irritated face, Arun Vijay is perfectly in sync with the world of the director which is realistic.
A key difference in Vanangaan is that there is a conscious effort to make the cinematography look superior in comparison to his previous ventures, which looked raw and rustic.
Going by the teaser, Arun Vijay plays the role of an angry young man, who seems to punching above his weight. The teaser has also put an end to the rumor that the film is based on the short story of Jeyamohan from his collection Aram. While the short story is set in the pre-Independent era, the film is not.
There is a lot of expectation from Vanangaan as it was initially supposed to feature Suriya in the lead role. The actor backed out of the film due to creative differences, and Bala roped in Arun Vijay to replace him.
Other than Arun Vijay, Mysskin, Samuthirakani, Ridha, Chhaya Devi, Bala Sivaji, Shanmugarajan, Yohan Chacko, Kavitha Gopi, Brindha Sarathy, Mai Pa Narayanan, Aruldas, and Munish Sivagurunath feature in the movie. GV Prakash has composed the music for the film.
The technical crew of Vanangaan consists of cinematographer RB Gurudev and editor Sathish Suriya. Vanangaan, produced by Suresh Kamatchi’s Vhouse Productions, is set to be released this year. A lot is at stake for Bala as the director hasn’t had a hit in a while.
