After the success of his last film Retro, Suriya is set to return to the screen with RJ Balaji’s Karuppu. This marks Suriya’s 45th film. Though the makers haven’t revealed the release date yet, they unveiled the film’s first single, “God Mode,” on the occasion of Diwali.

The four-minute track showcases Suriya’s character in full “God mode,” with his arrival sending the masses into a frenzy. Presented as the human embodiment of Karuppuswamy, a powerful and widely worshipped guardian deity (kaval deivam) in Tamil folk religion, the song emphasises that wrongdoers have no place under his watch. In the chorus, Suriya is referred to as Karuppuswamy, whose arrival will bring smiles to the face of the earth and calm the hearts of the masses.

Fans expressed excitement for Suriya’s latest track. One fan wrote, “World suriyya sir fans assemble..🎉” Another comment read, “Sai unstoppable now🎉❤” and one more said, “God mode peaked🎉💥💥💥💥💯💯💯”

Earlier in June, the makers unveiled the teaser for Suriya’s Karuppu. The teaser opens with Suriya in a power-packed avatar, dressed in a black shirt and dhoti. It then transitions to him donning a lawyer’s coat. Karuppu marks the third time Suriya will be seen as a lawyer, following his roles in Jai Bhim and Etharkkum Thunindhavan. The teaser also features subtle nods to his past films, including the iconic watermelon scene from Ghajini.

Karuppu is produced by Dream Warrior Pictures. Alongside Suriya, the film features Trisha, Swasika, Indrans, Yogi Babu, Shivada, Supreeth Reddy, and Anaka Maya Ravi in pivotal roles. The music is composed by Sai Abhayankar, with cinematography by G.K. Vishnu, editing by Kalaivanan, art direction by Arun Venjaramoodu, and stunt choreography by Vikram Mor.
