The news of Tamil actor Suriya joining forces with director Siva, who has a track record of delivering blockbusters like Siruthai (2011), Veeram (2014), and Viswasam (2019), for his 42nd film had sent waves of excitement among the actor’s fans. The level of anticipation skyrocketed when the film’s title, Kanguva, was officially announced last month, amplifying the enthusiasm among Suriya’s supporters even further.

In an exciting move, Studio Green, the co-producer of the highly-anticipated movie, has unveiled a captivating photo. The image captures Suriya in the midst of a workout session, showcasing his well-defined biceps as he prepares for the highly-anticipated film. It goes without saying that a brief 10-second clip, featuring just this single image accompanied by the captivating background score of Kanguva, unveiled alongside the film’s title, has swiftly become a viral sensation across various social media platforms. “It’s #Kanguva mode 🔥🔥💥,” Studio Green noted while sharing the tweet.

Bankrolled by Gnanvel Raja for Studio Green, Kanguva will mark the Tamil debut of Disha Patani, while Devi Sri Prasad will compose the film’s songs. While Gnanvel has already announced that Kanguva will be the costliest movie in Suriya’s career and that Siva was building a whole new world for the period thriller, the director himself recently explained what Kanguva meant. Siva told Cinema Express that Kangu meant ‘fire’ in Tamil, and that Kanguva was about a person who could wield fire.

However, he also cautioned not to take the literal meaning of the word and think Suriya would be playing a man with a superpower. “The mythology-like setting might lead someone to believe this is a fantasy. However, Kanguva is not a fantasy film and Suriya sir’s character does not have any superpowers,” he told the publication.

Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that the historical fictional film’s digital rights were sold at an unprecedented price. According to producer Gnanavel, the film’s South Indian digital rights alone were sold to Amazon Prime Video for Rs 80 crore.

Kanguva will release in 3D in 10 languages in 2024. It will be co-produced by UV Creations. While the screenplay for the film is written by Adi Narayana, Madan Karky has penned the dialogues. Suriya recently wrapped up a schedule for the movie in Kodaikanal.
