The fans of superstar Rajinikanth are eagerly counting down to August 10 for the release of Nelson’s Jailer, which marks the return of the actor to the silver screen after a hiatus of two years. After being let down by his last two films, Darbar by AR Murugadoss and Annaatthe by Siva, Rajinikanth’s fans are now placing all their expectations on Jailer.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the movie also features Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, and Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles.

In a bid to amplify the enthusiasm among fans, the makers organised a splendid audio launch event for the movie at Chennai’s prestigious Nehru Indoor Stadium on Friday. Despite the presence of numerous industry bigwigs, it was Rajinikanth himself who stole the spotlight at the event. Viral videos capturing the moment when hundreds of spectators went wild, cheering “Thalaiva”, as the actor made his entry to the stadium highlight his star power and immense popularity.

The 72-year-old actor made a grand entrance at the event, dressed in stylish black attire, reminiscent of his iconic look from Pa Ranjith’s 2018 film Kaala. The thunderous applause and cheers from the audience brought him immense joy, evident from the radiant smile on his face. With grace and gratitude, he waved at the numerous fans who gathered to see him and then proceeded to warmly embrace and offer good wishes to the cast and crew of the film who were in attendance.

Produced on a massive budget, Jailer’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who took Chennai by storm during the event with a fiery live performance. While Vijay Karthik Kannan has handled Jailer’s cinematography, the actioner has been edited by R Nirmal.

Ahead of the event, actor Tamannaah Bhatia, whose captivating dance in Jailer’s global sensation song Kaavaalaa captured everyone’s attention, had said that the Rajinikanth-starrer was an innate Tamil film. “It’s a rooted Tamil film which, hopefully, will reach out to all the audiences in India. Jailer is not a pan-India film. We have made a rooted, true to its region, film,” she stated.

A few days ago, this highly ambitious film had encountered controversy with Malayalam director Sakkir Madathil stepping forward and claiming that he registered the title ‘Jailer’ with the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) in 2021, well before the announcement of the Tamil film’s title.

Sun Pictures has reportedly moved the Madras High Court in this matter and the case has now been posted to August 2 for hearing.
