AR Rahman joins hands with son AR Ameen for Silambarasan starrer Pathu Thala song Ninaivirukka, watch

Though AR Rahman and son AR Ameen have teamed up for songs in the past like O Kadhal Kanmani’s “Maula Wa Sallim”, songs of Sachin: A Billion Dreams, and “Sooravalli Ponnu” from Galatta Kalyanam (Tamil version of Atrangi Re), they have come together for the first time for a promo video of a film. A new promotional video song of Silambarasan’s Pathu Thala features Rahman and Ameen.

Titled “Ninaivirukka”, the song, composed by Rahman, is sung by Ameen and Shakthisree Gopalan (a frequent collaborator of Rahman). Kabilan has penned the lyrics of the romantic number about a couple reminiscing about their love and good moments. “Ninaivirukka” is a bittersweet number that also features the film’s lead actors Priya Bhavani Shankar and Gautham Karthik.

Earlier, during the shoot of the song, a rumor made the rounds on social media that Silambarasan didn’t make it to the song’s shoot as he was out of town. A popular YouTube channel took a dig at the actor for not being available for his own film’s promotion while he was part of the Varisu promo song. Later, Pathu Thala director Krishna posted on Twitter that Simbu was not part of the song’s promo from the start and asked people to stop spreading hate for the actor. As the video for the romantic number between Priya and Karthik’s characters is now out, it is clear why Simbu was not part of the shoot.

Pathu Thala is a gangster film, which has Silambarasan as a sand mafia kingpin named AGR, who would stop at nothing to get what he wants. The trailer of the film hinted that Simbu is playing the role of an anti-hero. Pathu Thala will be released on March 30.
