Ikkis box office collection day 6: Agastya Nanda-starrer struggles to reach Rs 25 cr amid Dhurandhar wave

Ikkis box office collection day 6: Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar continues to dominate the box office with nearly 4000 shows and a collection of Rs 4.75 crore on its 33rd day.

Ikkis box office collection day 6: Ikkis, which largely opened to positive reviews, failed to convert critical appreciation into box office success. Unlike Dhurandhar, which went on a box office rampage driven by strong word of mouth, Agastya Nanda’s second outing and Dharmendra’s final film struggled to gain momentum. The Sriram Raghavan directorial earned just Rs 1.5 crore on Day 6, taking its nett domestic total to Rs 23 crore.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film recorded an overall occupancy of only 15.55% across India, with approximately 2,190 shows. Its performance lagged behind Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, which, despite having fewer shows, collected around Rs 1.75 crore on its sixth day from 1,858 shows. However, due to low footfalls and mixed word of mouth, the number of shows for Kartik Aaryan’s film has been drastically reduced across India (nearly 500), after opening with 2,290 shows on Christmas.

Meanwhile, Ikkis, which had 2,468 shows on its opening day, currently stands at 2,192 shows despite its underwhelming collections. One of the reasons is arguably the absence of any major Hindi film release until Border 2 on January 23. Until then, films like Ikkis and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri still have a window to maximise their collections.

That said, the film making the most of this dry spell is Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the film has crossed the Rs 1,200 crore mark worldwide since its release on December 5. On its fifth Tuesday, Dhurandhar earned Rs 4.75 crore while continuing to dominate screens with 3,830 shows. In comparison, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, with just 500 shows, earned a mere Rs 25 lakh on the same day.

Ikkis marks the second film of Agastya Nanda, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, following his debut in The Archies. This is also his first theatrical release, as his debut premiered directly on Netflix. Being Dharmendra’s final film, Ikkis was expected to fare better, with several critics describing it as Sriram Raghavan’s “love letter to peace.”

With this, Sriram Raghavan is yet to deliver another major box office success after Badlapur (2015) and Andhadhun (2018). In a career spanning over two decades, the filmmaker has directed only seven feature films, of which just two have emerged as clear commercial successes. His last release, Merry Christmas, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, also received positive reviews but failed to perform at the box office.
