In 2008, the cricket crazy fans were still wondering if a twenty-over cricket match will work when Indian Premiere League came into the picture and the format became extremely popular. It was Multi Screen Media’s (MSM) Sony Max that became the host for the IPL matches, making it one of the biggest properties on television.
Seven years later, the MSM Network has again experimented with the most loved sport of India — cricket — by launching a reality show, Box Cricket League — on Sony Entertainment channel that will see the participation of 120 television actors and others from the TV fraternity.
Conceptualised by Marinating Films and produced by Balaji Telefilms, BCL will have eight teams fighting for the trophy across 19 matches.
Nachiket Pantvaidya, Senior EVP and Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television says that the League is an unique initiative. “This is four weeks of differentiated offering and it will provide an alternative content to viewers of general entertainment channels. I am sure our viewers will enjoy this unique combination of entertainment and cricket to the fullest.”
